A 42-year-old man was hospitalized after being stabbed in Seattle's Pioneer Square neighborhood Monday evening.

Police said at 5:43 p.m., officers were sent to a reported stabbing that occurred near the 100 block of South Washington Street. When officers arrived, they found the 42-year-old man who'd been stabbed twice in his head.

"He was in an out of consciousness and bleeding," wrote Seattle police in response to an inquiry from KOMO News. "The Seattle Fire Department provided medical aid and stabilized him on scene. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition."

The SPD described the suspect as a "black male wearing all-black clothing." Police continued to note the suspect fled the area southbound on foot before officers arrived.

"He has not been located yet; patrol officers are actively searching for him," wrote the SPD. "The weapon used has not been located."

The SPD said what exactly led up to the stabbing is under investigation. Detectives in the Homicide & Assault Unit were also notified.
