While the months of January and February typically produce the most snowfall for southern New England, it is clear winter is still holding on this year.
Cleanup began in battered parts of the South and Midwest after a sprawling storm system produced ferocious winds and heavy snow that caused widespread damage.
Heavy snow in the Cascades will continue to make mountain pass travel difficult through Saturday, and a "wintery mix" will remain possible in the lowlands.
Spring is so close, but not here yet. The first storm of March will bring heavy mountain snow to the Cascades and a chance of more lowland snow showers.
