CHICAGO (TNND) — An irate woman at a Chicago City Council meeting Monday asked President-elect Donald Trump and Tom Homan, whom he picked to be his “border czar,” to “make an example” out of Mayor Brandon Johnson.
Danielle Carter-Walters, a Chicago fitness trainer, took aim at Mayor Johnson over the city's ongoing migrant crisis and his pledge to resist Trump administration deportation efforts.
“Trump, Tom Homan, make an example out this n*gro right here first,” she said. "Please come here first, because you know what? We gon’ help you.”
Johnson then interrupted Carter-Walters to say her language needed to remain appropriate. She continued by addressing somebody else at the meeting, who she accused of spending public funds to protect “illegals.”
“You gon’ spend our tax dollars ... you said to take Trump to court to protect these illegal,” the speaker claimed. “You said you gon’ spend our tax dollars to take Trump to court to protect these illegals if they try to come ... in your district. And then you said all of y’all in kahoots with each other to do it.”
Carter-Walters, who was wearing a “Chicago Flips Red” shirt alongside other speakers at the meeting, added “we ‘bout to make y’all famous.”
“Okay, so now we ‘bout to make y’all famous. We gonna let all y’all constituents know who y’all rattin’ for, that y’all wanted to spend our tax dollars to protect illegals and to get them legal services,” she said. “So, that’s what we doin’. That’s cool ‘cause we ‘bout to make all of y’all famous.”
Johnson said in a statement following Trump’s election win that he would not “flinch” when it comes to “fighting back against any hate.”
“It is my responsibility and the responsibility of all elected officials to protect the rights and freedoms of our constituents and to lead with vision and conviction,” the statement reads. “Chicago will continue to move forward, and we will do so while staying true to our values.”
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker made a similar vow not to aid possible Trump administration deportation raids.
