More than a million people rely on food banks in Washington state. Many of them are parents struggling to feed their kids. That's why KOMO 4 is teaming up with Food Lifeline.

As of 7 p.m Friday, over $40,000 has been raised during this year's food drive.

You can help tackle hunger. Click HERE to make a donation. Your gift will help Food Lifeline supply more than 400 food banks across western Washington.

Here are more ways you can help local families in need:

  • Volunteer with Food Lifeline sorting and repacking donations at the Hunger Solutions Center. This is a great way to give back with a group of friends, family or colleagues. Click HERE to learn more and register.
  • Start your own community food drive. Click HERE to get involved in the Tackle Hunger campaign including becoming a Tackle Hunger Ambassador and learn how to create a food drive in your neighborhood. KOMO News want to know about your food drive ideas and results. Email us at tacklehunger@komonews.com. The KOMO team may feature you in a story.
  • Help someone find food. Click HERE on the Tackle Hunger Food Map to find Food Banks and meal programs near you by just entering a zip code.
  • Food Lifeline also has this resource page to find food banks by neighborhood.
  • Our sponsors Seattle Hyundai and Seattle Jeep are accepting non-perishable food donations at their dealerships.

Thanks to this year's returning sponsor BECU. and welcome to new sponsors Seattle Hyundai and Seattle Jeep.
