One of the greatest stars in Seattle sports history has now been immortalized on the city's streets.

The new "Sue Bird Court" is located on a portion of Second Avenue North between Denny Way and Lenny Wilkens Way, near Climate Pledge Arena.

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell made the official proclamation and unveiled the new street sign Monday morning. Bird joins Lenny Wilkens and Edgar Martinez in an elite group of Seattle athletes with streets named after them.

"It's really special, it speaks to this city as a sports town and how much they value that," Bird said. "I think as a woman being probably one of the firsts, probably not ever, but in Seattle, I mean that's really special. I've done a lot of firsts here and I'm adding this to the list so I'm excited about it."

Bird was joined by her fiancée, Reign legend Megan Rapinoe, at the Monday morning event. The couple is celebrating a big weekend, as Rapinoe was honored with a jersey retirement ceremony at Lumen Field Sunday night.
