WASHINGTON (TND) — Dangerous weather conditions are brewing for another night on both coasts.

Parts of the East are bracing for more snow, while flooding has turned deadly in the West.

Authorities in Washington state say an elderly man was swept away by rising water when he tried to move his car. They are still searching for him and his vehicle.

Members of the Washington National Guard have already been deployed to some areas of the state like Chehalis.

An intense situation is continuing to develop in Seattle.

Video shows heavy rain that washed a home off its foundation, starting a fire as it slid. A man also had to be rescued from the basement but one dog died.

Other parts of the state are under an avalanche warning. The town of Leavenworth, located in the Cascades, saw 36 inches of snow in 24 hours.

It's now cut off from Seattle, with major highways not expected to reopen until Sunday at the earliest.

On the East Coast, the system that dropped snow across several states overnight is now hitting Maine before it moves into Canada.

It's leaving behind bitter cold with the winds dropping that "feels like" temperature by double digits in most places.
