Meteorologist/Reporter


Stella Sun is home again! She joins the KOMO 4-Cast Team as a meteorologist and reporter, working with the KOMO Morning News team. She will also join KOMO News Anchor Lee Stoll on Sunday mornings, providing KOMO Weather forecasts at 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Stella comes to KOMO News from Phoenix, Arizona, where she was a weekday morning traffic anchor/reporter and meteorologist at KPNX 12 News. She and the KPNX Team won a Rocky Mountain Southwest Emmy for “Best Morning Newscast” in 2023 for their coverage of the Super Bowl preparations in Arizona.

She joined KPNX from KOAT in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she was the weekend morning weather anchor and reporter. The readers of New Mexico’s largest newspaper, the Albuquerque Journal, chose Stella as the Best Reporter in 2022.

Stella also worked at KTMF in Missoula, Montana, where she began her career in reporting and weather forecasting. While in Missoula, Stella enrolled in meteorology classes through Mississippi State University. She finished her meteorology certification in December 2023.

Stella is a proud graduate of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University. She double majored in broadcast news and global politics and received a minor in global studies. Yes, Coug Nation, she is a die-hard Coug fan and will be cheering for our WSU teams!

Stella grew up in Silverdale and graduated from Central Kitsap High School. Her family now lives in the south Sound. Off the clock, Stella enjoys eating out, traveling, and spending too many hours binge-watching her favorite TV shows.

Stella is very glad to be home!
