While it seemed to take forever for summer to actually kick off this year, once it arrived it really brought the dry weather and heat.

Wednesday is the last day of summer and astronomical fall arrives Thursday.

With summer officially coming to an end, and no rain expected, the National Weather Service in Seattle said this summer is officially the driest on record.

NWS Seattle said the city recorded a total of .5 inches of rain this summer. The summer of 2017 only got .52 inches but every summer after that recorded at least 1.25 inches of rain.

Of the .5 inches that the city got over the past 93 days, more than a third of it fell on Sept. 16.

This summer also broke some records when it comes to heat. Temperatures hit 90 degrees on Sept. 10, marking a total of 13 90-degree days in the Emerald City - which is the most in one year.

As summer comes to end, you can expect some sweater weather temps next week and Sunday marks the last 7 p.m. sunset of the year.
