SAN ANTONIO - A man is hospitalized and possibly facing charges after he was stabbed while allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. Monday at a home off Bynum Avenue and Southwest Military Drive on the Southwest Side.

Police said when they arrived, they found the 24-year-old suspect with a stab wound. They took another man at the scene into custody, who they believed stabbed the suspect.

A 22-year-old woman told investigators that her ex-boyfriend tried to break through the front door with sledgehammer. The man and woman both ran into a utility room at the back of the home, but the suspect tracked them down.

The victim told police that the suspect then dragged her out of the utility room by her hair and began beating her up. That's when the other man jumped in to try and defend her, but the suspect began assaulting him.

That's when the other man ended the attack by stabbing the suspect.

The suspect is in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
